The rear seats are re-padded in my 1973 w114 280! For those interested - get burlap, dacron, 1/2 foam, hog rings (and pliers) and some heavy-duty spray adhesive.
(this company has great and affordable rebuild kits that have everything you need including hog rings and pliers: https://www.automotiveinteriors.com/automotive-seat-foam-rebuild-kits-s/17336.htm )
Attach the burlap with some hog rings then use spray adhesive to attach foam to the burlap creating the seat shape. Then finish for softness with dacron (also attached with spray adhesive).
The process is bigger bitch than I anticipated because the "brilliant" Germans decided to use glue to secure top of the vinyl and the arm rest so I had to work around it with the foam.
